Thirty Seconds To Mars on Tour: Behind-The-Scenes Q&A and Performance

December 12, 2013 7:42 PM EST

You might never get an all-access pass to a Thirty Seconds to Mars concert, but Billboard has the next best thing. Our cameras were invited backstage at London's O2 Arena to chronicle the band's Nov. 23rd gig before a crowd of thousands. Of course, quality time was spent with members Jared and Shannon Leto, Tomo Miličević, but -- as the video proves -- there's much more to a successful rock tour than a few famous band members. Billboard's crew also got a rare glimpse into the life of the men and women behind the scenes who make the Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams Tour happen.

When it comes to leading a rock band, Jared Leto takes his job as Thirty Seconds to Mars' frontman very seriously. "I look at my job onstage as to help deliver both myself and the audience to a place where we all celebrate the possibilities of life, rather than the limitations," he said. For the actor/rocker, it's not just about bringing the band's four studio albums to life; it's also a way to provide a life-affirming experience that fans can carry with them outside of the venues as well. For the members themselves, Miličević admits that the band puts so much effort into its nightly spectacle, that there's little time for indulging in the rock star lifestyle. "For anyone that wanted to see a bunch of naked chicks, drugs, and alcohol, sorry for the disappointment," he says. "You won't find that at a Thirty Seconds to Mars show." That's not to say the band doesn't find spare the time to stay creative. Touring bassist Stevie Aiello gave Billboard a peek at his personal blog, which he uses to share his on-tour photography from around the world.
